For us Game Pass players, it is always a tragedy when a game leaves the service and you never got the chance to try it. Sometimes, a little reminder of what is heading out soon can make all the difference, so for your sake and mine: here is the list!

At the end of January, the six games departing from Xbox Game Pass are as follows:

Anuchard

With generally underwhelming reviews, such as a 65 on Opencritic, Anuchard is a largely puzzle focused RPG with simplistic combat. A Zelda-esque dungeon crawler, stellarNull‘s Anuchard is supposedly “horrendously written and/or translated” according to David Flynn’s review on GAMINGTREND. Maybe not a must-play for everyone, but if it sounds interesting, make sure you jump on it soon because it leaves Game Pass on 1/31!

Broforce

From South African developer Free Lives, Broforce is a run&gun side-scroller that pays homage to the classics of the macho war genre. Beneath the hyperbolic “Rah Rah ‘Murica” patriotism, is a high quality SNES style game. If you are a fan of 80’s action films, and games from that era: this might just be the perfect game for you.

Darkest Dungeon

Boasting a whopping 9.1 by IGN and even nominated for their 2016 Game of the Year (understandably losing to Overwatch), Darkest Dungeon by Red Hook Studios is a dungeon crawler with turn based combat and with a hand-drawn 2D look to it. Deceptively simple by the looks of it, the game involves semi-complex strategies to maximize odds of survival.

Deaths Door

Developed by UK based Acid Nerve: Death’s Door is an action-adventure rpg where the player assumes the role of a crow who acts as a reaper. In fact all the workers of the afterlife are fittingly corvids. This Zelda-like is full of dualities that mirror life and death, and crafted with brilliant attention to detail. Definitely a game worth checking out while still on Game Pass.

Maquette

Graceful Decay’s Maquette is what happens when you see Superliminal, and say “I am going to make a game like that… but make it fractals.”

The game involves manipulating a puzzle by considering which level of the infinite sequence you want to toy with. The game seemingly struggles with keeping up the users intrigue;as Cris Tapsell writes, “The first half – three hours or so – is a brilliant success…The rest is interference.”

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem

Timelock Studio’s Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem, is the latest in the long standing Serious Sam franchise, developed by Croteam. Earning a moderate 70 on metacritic, with a slightly higher user score: Siberian Mayhem is a first person shooter

Starting with Sam4 modders, and with the help of Croteam, the game stands alone as an expansion to the Sam series. The game is intended to be played by those who are familiar with the series, and you are given less time to gather yourself before chaos ensues. Players of the game appreciate the lack of hand-holding and also enjoy the concentration of content.

If you love mowing enemies down in a classic FPS, try out Siberian Mayhem before it leaves on 1/31!
